In my work as the “midwife” for One Garden Essences, I’ve been realising a natural passion to help children have a healthier emotionally environment, to remain true to their authentic nature as apposed to corrupted forces so many of us had as children. My conclusion for this to happen, is to turn our focus to parents who are carrying the weight and influence of their unhealed wounded childhood which most likely is hindering the quality of their relationships.
Naturally, I was thrilled when at the beginning of 2023 I began the creation of For The Love of Children Essences. As each essence came through I was intrigued with them and their offerings for different aspects of our childhood influences. Even though I have gained much support in healing from our previous gardens, being One Garden Divine Botanical Essences and the Deepening Essences, I learned these new essences are specifically for childhood trauma recovery and parenting support.
We’ve had traumatic events beyond childhood, its interesting to learn these events will always have taproots of unhealed childhood trauma. Our soul is always guiding us back to the original woundings to resolve. I have found this to be true time and time again in my own recovery.
The arrival of these essences have inspired and guided me to dive deeper into my own healing. I’ve experienced big shifts in my life in the past year. This brings much relief and grows my faith in the truth that we can not only recover, but grow in a beautiful ways. Another chapter, even though its small in the global context of my trauma, I can finally feel at peace with it.
There are so many essences I’ve taken that have supported me with these emotional liberating shifts. Each and every one had an intricate contribution. But there are three stand out essences.
I See Me essence (Sunflower), I Be Me essence (Ground Cherry) and Changemaker essence (Silky Oak & Coastal Morning Glory). One of the core injuries that I’ve been focusing on is the trauma of rejection and its effect behaviour being the “imposter syndrome”. I’ve been really scared and hating of being me. These wounds tells so many lies about who we are and what we can and can’t do.
Like helpful gardening tools, the essences elegantly and intelligently cultivate an environment for healing. They’re patient, intuitive and wise. They “know” our unique self, working in harmony with our free will. And like all gardening endeavours, we’ve always got to be the force behind the shovel. No real healing takes place without our full engagement, willingness to feel all the emotions and be willing to change our beliefs with truth.

I want to share a personal story as an example of healing involving my wounded inner child aged around 4 or 5 who never got to do ballet dance until last November 2023. This came about through being guided by the essences and partnering them with Breathwork, Somatic healing and emotional coaching…and my sincere desire to heal.
As little girl I was captivated by a picture of Swan Lake ballet (Carlotta Edwards) on my wall. Although I’d never seen ballet perform in film or real life, it was just this one picture that created so much passion. I’d imagine myself gracefully dancing in pretty dresses and silk shoes.

My mother booked me into a ballet class but on the day of the class I stood at the front door of the hall and saw many people in the room. I felt very tiny and froze in panic and terror, so much so I ran away and refused to go back. Mum couldn’t understand and shamed me big time.
Years later in my early teens, I discovered a recording of Tchaikovsky’s iconic Waltz of the Flowers from the The Nutcracker ballet and fell in love with it.
Decades passed by and the little girl who longed to dance fell into lost memory…until last year when I began doing breathwork sessions with Janja Jenko at Alive Healing. Towards the end of each session, I’d lay on the mat, feeling a strong urge to dance to the closing music being used in the sessions. Then, few weeks later, during another session with a somatic therapist and breathwork coach, Boris Haliad-Elul, the memory of the little girl running out of the hall came to the fore. Tears began to flow full of sadness and grief for the little girl who never got to dance ballet.
I described my memory recall to my husband Stephen over the phone. Upon arriving home from work after the evening shift at the hospital, I found two pairs of ballet shoes with a red rose on the bed. One pair for the little inner child and the other pair for me the adult.

A few days later while having a session with Melany Oliver, Emotions coach, I decided to explore the possibility of doing an adult ballet class. Fuelled with my strong desire I began searching and immediately I found a local class for 55+.
I went shopping with my little inner child to look for something pretty to wear.
One morning, the little girl at the age of almost 65, began to dance ballet with her loving husband watching through the window.

As I moved into the ballet poses in response to the beautiful language of ballet descriptions such as pliés, arabesque, chasse etc. upon seeing my reflection dancing upon the wall of mirrors, tears of joy welled up inside. Somehow, even though clumsy at times, my ballet shoes knew what to do.
There’s a joy in finally resolving something within. The healing of my little girl took place.
The question is – what happened to the little girl that made me so timid and fearful of people and blocked to follow her passions? This is the next emotional investigation as there’s still more to be revealed. Like Raiders of the Lost Arc, there’s always another treasure to find.
There are always unresolved events hiding in our emotional cupboards. Even though they are “out of sight, out of mind”, they certainly will be operating an influence in our lives in one way or another. The essences are such a powerful loving support with every exploration, using whatever form of healing you choose. They just want to help you unlock the real you.
Much love,
