Who were you before anyone else decided what you were worth?

The circumstances surrounding our conception, birth and childhood can profoundly influence how we come to see ourselves. Being unwanted, rejected, abandoned or poorly loved may lead to painful conclusions: I shouldn’t be here. I was a mistake. There must be something wrong with me. I am not worthy of love.

Child of God invites you to question those conclusions at their very foundation.

Within the spiritual understanding of One Garden, every human soul is individually and lovingly created by God. Our earthly parents provide the physical circumstances through which we enter this life, but they do not create our worth. Before achievement or failure, acceptance or rejection, approval or criticism, you already existed as a unique soul containing individuality, qualities, capabilities and potential waiting to be discovered and developed.

The Aubergine flower offers a beautiful image of this beginning. Its luminous golden centre is held within soft violet petals, evoking something precious being received at the threshold of life. From this delicate flower eventually develops the fruit containing the seeds of future possibility — a reminder that beginnings can hold potential we cannot yet see.

Child of God does not ask you to become worthy. It invites you to remember an identity that existed before the experiences that taught you otherwise. Whatever the circumstances surrounding your arrival, another person’s inability to welcome, recognise or love you could never determine the value of your existence.

Your worth preceded everything that happened to you. You were never a mistake.

Remembering yourself as a Child of God can become a different foundation from which to explore your life: Who am I? What has God placed within me? What have my experiences taught me to believe about myself? And what might become possible as I discover the truth of who I really am?
